About Us & Contact

Mission

As Montana health professionals, we address the causes and impacts of climate change to protect and enhance the health of all Montanans through education, advocacy and leadership.

Vision

Addressing climate change to build a healthy and just Montana.

Our Inception Story

PictureWind turbine blades in transit near Bozeman.
A number of health professionals in Montana were active for several years on issues regarding air pollution and climate change from a public health viewpoint, but acting independently. In 2018, we decided to combine our efforts and invite other concerned Montana health professionals to join and participate. All types of health professionals and their patients and communities are affected by climate change, so this group is open to public and environmental health professionals, health care practitioners (nurses, doctors, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, midwives), allied health care fields, veterinarians, and alternative health practitioners. We hope to increase awareness amongst Montanans of this significant issue that threatens the health of our patients, wildlife, and communities in Montana.

Over the past several years, organizing has increased nationally and at the state level. A number of states now have formed health care professional climate groups. Like the health care professionals’ groups in other states, we love our state and our communities. We care about the health of Montanans.
There are many actions we can take, and any caring health care practitioner can be involved: from testifying at our legislature and other public hearings, to educating our patients and communities, to greening our own offices. We hope to increase action in our state that will improve Montanans'  health.

Donations

As with all 501(c)3 non-profits, we are funded through the generosity of concerned individuals, businesses, and organizations. Donations fund the organization and the organization’s mission, unless otherwise directed in writing by the donor (Directed Gift). To make the most of your gift, we do not pay our board, we have part-time staff, and since our board is located in towns across Montana, we have no headquarters costs. That means more of your money goes directly to our programs!
