Our Inception Story

A number of health professionals in Montana had been active for several years on issues regarding air pollution and climate change from a public health viewpoint, but acting independently. In 2018, we decided to combine our efforts and invite other concerned Montana health professionals to join and participate. All types of health professionals and their patients and communities are affected by climate change, so this group is open to public and environmental health professionals, health care practitioners (nurses, doctors, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, midwives), allied health care fields, veterinarians, and alternative health practitioners. We hope to increase awareness amongst Montanans of this significant issue that threaten the health of our patients, wildlife, and communities in Montana.
Over the past several years, there has been increased organizing nationally and at the state level. A number of states now have formed health care professional climate groups. Like the health care professionals’ groups in other states, we love our state and our communities. We care about the health of Montanans.
There are many actions that can be taken, such that any caring health care practitioner can be involved. From phone calls and letters to elected officials and newspapers, to supporting industry that increases sustainability, to greening our own offices. From testifying at our legislature and other public hearings, to educating our patients and communities. We hope to increase action in our state that will improve Montanans and their health.

Donations
As with all 501(c)3 non-profits, we are funded through the generosity of concerned individuals, businesses, and organizations. Donations fund the organization and the organization’s mission, unless otherwise directed in writing by the donor (Directed Gift). However, we have differences that make your gifts have more impact. Our financial needs for operations are not as high as many other nonprofits. We do not pay our board, we have no paid staff, and we are virtualized, since our board is located in towns across Montana, and so have no headquarters costs.
Ways To Give
